Job Description

Our client – a specialty subcontractor in the South Bay - is currently seeking a Construction Field Engineer based in our San Jose, CA office. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of field experience supporting deep foundation construction projects. Position responsibilities may include:

• Assisting Project Management from project inception to project close-out
• Assisting with project procurement and contractor bids
• Providing assistance with quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
• Assist with project schedules and budget development and maintenance
• Thorough understanding of contract plans and specifications
• Perform various duties to support the project on-site:
• Assist in project Layout
• Assist in Quality Control activities
• Create and submit project daily reports
• Prepare and process Change Orders, Submittals and RFI’ s
• Maintain Project logs (RFI, submittals, daily notes, progress, QC)
• Create Daily Cut Sheets, and maintain project as-built drawings
• Prepare meeting minutes for project meetings
• Weekly project photos and other progress documentation
• Maintain project punch list
• Manage project closeout and obtain all warranties required for final acceptance
• Follow established company procedures and standards

Required Experience

• Bachelor' s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent in related field experience
• 2 years Construction-related work experience assisting Project Management
• Relevant work experience performing field engineering tasks of increasing responsibility
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, and familiarity with scheduling/project management software
• Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Training and certification in Construction Safety
• Knowledge of Caltrans construction methods and practices
• Knowledge of USACE construction methods and practices
• Project scheduling experience
• Knowledge of Deep Soil Mixing methods and other Deep Foundation technologies
• Multi discipline and agency coordination
