Our client, an established surveying and mapping firm, would like to hire a Senior Surveying Associate. This firm provides surveying and mapping, GIS, and sub-surface utility engineering services to local, state, and federal government agencies, private land developers, civil engineers, and The Florida Department of Transportation. Projects include private residential/commercial land development, heavy civil/vertical construction, public design, and utility engineering.

Job Description
Our client, an established surveying and mapping firm, would like to hire a Senior Surveying Associate. This firm provides surveying and mapping, GIS, and sub-surface utility engineering services to local, state, and federal government agencies, private land developers, civil engineers, and The Florida Department of Transportation. Projects include private residential/commercial land development, heavy civil/vertical construction, public design, and utility engineering.
The Senior Surveying Associate will bridge the gap between the company, the client, and the successful completion of a project.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and scheduling of staffing needs
- Preparing and tracking project budgets
- Understanding the scope and intent of a project
- Providing clients with a project budget and notifying them of any foreseeable additional cost
- Delivering an accurate and complete survey
- Adhering to surveying standards of practice, local engineering standard manuals, and project specific requirements
- Maintaining control on project costs
Qualifications preferred:
- Surveying and Mapping license
- Ability to qualify the company in additional states as needed
- If not currently licensed, ability, desire, and drive to become licensed in the state you are working in
- Certifications including Certified Surveying Technician (CST), Maintenance of Traffic, and Certified Floodplain Management
- Professional Associations including National Society of Professional Surveyor (NSPS), local surveying and mapping societies, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
- Autodesk Architecture, Engineering, & Construction (AEC) Suite including Civil 3D, Revit, AutoCAD, InfraWorks, and Navisworks
- Bentley Systems Software including MicroStation, GeoPack, and OpenRoads Designer
- Office 365 Applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher
- Accounting and Time Tracking Software including Quickbooks and T-Sheets
- Intra-Office Communication Applications including Slack, Trainual
- General understanding of civil engineering including how surveys are used to design new utilities and storm drainage systems
- Ability to read, comprehend, and apply local government laws and requirements as it relates to land planning and zoning
- Familiarity with all local requirements and procedures related to planning and permitting including subdivision applications, lot splits, right of way and maintenance of traffic permits
- Experience reviewing recorded legal documents and providing explicit notes or survey calls on any easements or restrictions on a subject property
- Interpreting prior surveys and using both standard and local practices to make just calls on retracing boundaries
- Ability to use available resources, field visits, and project intent to determine budget estimates and produce a survey specific scope
- General understanding of both site and vertical construction including plan and specification reading, construction planning and scheduling, document control, and close out documentation
- Ability to read, comprehend, and apply local government laws and requirements as it relates to construction permitting
- Review the client' s contract and confirm scope, pricing, and requirements are in line with the company' s scope and fee proposal
- Track any potential change orders and obtain client approval and contract orders prior to performance of work
- Knowledge and application of local government and utility agency requirements for as-built surveys
- Extensive knowledge of the local department of transportation requirements and procedures for surveying and mapping
- Extensive knowledge on the local department of transportation requirements and procedures for accounting and billing
- Experience on City, County, and State funded transportation projects
- Ability to respond to district surveying and mapping advertisements or team with lead consultant responding to advertisements by the local department of transportation procurement
- Ability to lead and direct both field and office staff in the completion of a project according to the local department of transportation specifications
